by saying “other artists”…you’re implying that YOU are an artist. If YOU were an “artist”… you wouldn’t steal other peoples music! it’s called plagerizm. but to answer your question….shure 58 and PC

Fruity Loops, now called FL Studio is a loop based recording and editing program. You can record instruments or create your own music using loops.
If you’re not aware loops are pre-recorded “clips” of midi music which you compile into a complete song.
It is designed for PC but can be run on Macs with Bootcamp. (allows running both OS’s)
I have a PC but I think all Macs come with Garage Band which is a similar program.
Which computer?
Macs are used most professionally by recording studios and graphics designers because of the programs made for them and also they are a more stable system less prone to viruses and malfunction.
PC’s are less stable if running windows but any problems are reduced if you don’t fiddle with the system and have a good anti-virus software.
PC’s are generally much cheaper than Macs.
PC’s also have a much wider range of programs made for them.
My next question is – does your intended use justify the expense?
If just for your own fun I would personally go for a PC.
The upfront cost is much less. FL Studio has a trial period but the starting price is $299 which you need to take into account when deciding.
Audacity is a free multi-track audio recording/editing program.
You can load the songs you already have and record a new vocal track along with it. It is not loop based.
As for the microphone get the best you can afford.
For studio recording condenser microphones for vocals are almost exclusively used. Having said that as an info only statement you don’t need to consider one of those. Cost too much to start with – couple of thousand up.
Your best bet as to type of microphone is a uni directional dynamic mic.
The industry standard regarded as the best all round mic is the Shure SM 58. It does have a price to match but it’ll last a lifetime.
My best advice here is to go to a local musical instrument store and ask their opinion. They will have a range of mics and prices for you to choose from.
The question you have to ask yourself is:
How much am I willing to spend to rap over a few songs?
